How to order a house?

After you've made the decision on the house material, the next step is to choose the type of house and calculate its cost. To estimate the cost of a log house, you have to make a preliminary calculation based on your own wishes. Then, you should show us the finished project or any kind of draft. If you've got a project, we will redraw it and take your individual wishes into account. If there are only drawings, our architects will create a sketch. Next, we do our job and get the exact cubic capacity, considering all possible errors, waste materials etc. Then we prepare a contract and you make a mandatory 50% advance payment. We agree to the terms and start working.

The stages of work are as follows: (Here's a link to the main page showing the cooperation stages)
Do you build houses on turnkey basis?
No, we don't. We only make log houses. We have no any construction department.
Do you provide delivery services?
We don't have our own trucks, but we cooperate with logistic organizations. We can definitely help you with transportation and delivery. But it's up to you since you can either solve the delivery question yourself or contact us.
Technical questions
What is the average weight of one package of laminated timber?
What are the overall dimensions of the package?
The average weight of one package of laminated timber is 2.5 tons, the dimensions are meter per meter. The length depends on the house project details.
What volume of laminated timber can be put in a truck?
It's about 40 cubic meters and 20 tons max.
What are the requirements for the truck?
...
What is the delivery time for a house from the date of order placement?
If laminated timber is used the time is 60 days. In case of rounded log, it reduces to 30 days. Actually, the terms may vary a bit depending on the workload of production.
What is the working and/or overall height of the laminated timber bars?
The working height for a standard bar is 200 to 190 mm. Working height is 180 mm, overall height is 190 mm. For laminated timber bar it is 200 to 260 mm. Working height is 248 mm, overall height is 260 mm.
What do we use?
What kind of heat insulation is better?
We recommend Polytherm. It's one of the safest heat insulation materials. There are no hazardous resins and toxic substances in it. It's hypoallergenic and you can work with it even without a respirator. Polytherm is resistant to moisture. Even if it's completely wet, it will dry out. It also differs from other materials by a high tape plasticity. Polytherm can shrink and get volume back. Therefore, it reliably seals all gaps.
What kind of glue system is used for laminated timber?
We use water-based glue known as BASF. It is one of the first biodegradable glues. It solidifies comparatively very quickly (you can work on it 6 hours after since glue application). In addition, it's resistant to cold and water. Its elastic composition compensates for mechanical stresses and temperature fluctuations.

What's better to use: rounded log or laminated timber?
It's up to you to decide since everything is individual at this point. It depends on your priority. Laminated timber resists deformations and retains its shape for many years. Its appearance will not deteriorate over time. Laminated timber is usually produced of high-quality wooden planks made from softwood. But the glue used in the production of timber may not be natural and/or environmentally friendly. But if we consider longevity, laminated timber will win out. Thanks to the processing during manufacture, it is less susceptible to mold and mildew. The shrinking percentage of rounded logs is much higher compared to laminated timber. But the cost and weight values favor rounded logs.
What are the advantages of laminated timber?
It's resistant to deformations, retains the right parameters of internal stress in planks. Since it has a minimal moisture content (just about 10%), you don't need to worry that, when construction has been completed, timber may dry out or have cracks. Another benefit of laminated timber is considered to be its high heat-isolation properties. It's also a leader among other materials in terms of fire safety and fire resistance.
How many years can a house made of laminated timber last?
If the conditions like temperature, humidity, etc. are properly maintained, the house can last for at least from 50 to 90 years.
What are the advantages of rounded log?
It has the same cross-section along the entire length, high thermal and sound insulation parameters. Also, no additional processing is needed for the log, so you can save time and money when finishing the house.
What are the peculiarities of solid timber?
Paired spikes and grooves are sawn out on the lower and upper edges of solid timber. Therefore, the crowns are connected tightly and without gaps. As the spikes dry out, they go deeper into the grooves, thus improving the tightness.
Spruce or pine: which is better?
This depends on your preferences. In most cases pine is used for the construction of houses. It's quite good for making parts of a complexed shape. Pine is also easier for processing since spruce has a larger number of knots. But spruce is more constant considering its color shade, while pine changes its color to more intense. Spruce contains less resin than pine. Therefore, it is more susceptible to microorganisms and less to decay.
What are the disadvantages of solid timber?
Often, it is delivered with production or profile defects. Sometimes it isn't dry enough, and that increases the shrinkage period.
What's the difference between Finnish and German profiles?
The German profile is sometimes called a comb because of the large number of ridges and grooves. Due to such a design, you have a reliable protection against cold and moisture. The Finnish profile has only 2 large ridges along the timber edges. When joining the timber bars, you see a lot of space left for the sealing material. The German profile provides maximum density and you get a nondetachable connection.
How to avoid the appearance of cracks in the timber?
The moisture content in wood material depends on the temperature and air humidity. Thus, the temperature in the building must be kept at 20±2°C, otherwise the wood may dry unevenly or deform.
